Empowering teachers, inspiring pupils

At Barefoot Computing, we believe that every child should be equipped to thrive in a digital world—and that begins with confident, well-supported teachers. We help primary educators across the UK to build the knowledge and confidence they need to teach computing with clarity and creativity, whatever their level of experience.

Through our free, high-quality resources, training and live lessons, we support teachers to bring computing to life in their classrooms. But Barefoot is more than just a set of tools—it’s a programme that empowers teachers to feel confident and capable, and inspires pupils to develop the critical thinking, problem-solving and digital literacy skills they need for the future.

Since 2014, Barefoot has reached 85% of UK primary schools, supporting over 115,000 teachers and millions of pupils. With your support, we can extend this impact even further—ensuring that every child, in every community, has the opportunity to succeed in a rapidly changing digital world

Why This Matters

Many primary teachers lack confidence in teaching computing, often due to confusion around curriculum requirements and unfamiliar terminology. This can result in lessons that are less effective and limiting pupils' opportunities to build essential digital skills.

Barefoot tackles these challenges head-on, empowering teachers with the confidence to understand and deliver engaging, purposeful lessons. In doing so, we lay the groundwork for pupils to thrive in a digital future and reduce the growing digital divide between schools.

“Barefoot has supported teacher CPD and computational thinking understanding for both children and staff. There is a range of wonderful resources, all free and easy to adapt.”
