Empowering Teachers, Inspiring Young Minds

We believe that every child should be equipped to thrive in a digital world—and that begins with confident, well-supported teachers. We help primary educators to build the confidence to teach computing creatively.

Through our free, high-quality resources, training and live lessons, we support teachers to bring computing to life in their classrooms. Empowering teachers to be confident and capable, and inspiring pupils to build critical thinking, problem-solving, and digital literacy skills.

Since 2014, Barefoot has reached 85% of UK primary schools, supporting over 115,000 teachers and millions of pupils. With your support, we can extend this impact even further —ensuring that every child, in every community, can succeed in a rapidly changing digital world.

Why This Matters

Computing is an engaging and inspiring subject for children in primary, and it is a curriculum requirement in many countries. But most primary teachers do not have a background in computing. Getting to grips with the curriculum requirements, unfamiliar terminology, and the subject knowledge can be overwhelming. And that can result in less effective lessons and reduced opportunities for pupils.

Barefoot tackles these challenges head-on, empowering teachers with the confidence to deliver engaging, purposeful and effective lessons. In doing so, we lay the groundwork for pupils to thrive in the digital world and reduce the growing digital divide between schools.

“Barefoot has supported teacher CPD and computational thinking understanding for both children and staff. There is a range of wonderful resources, all free and easy to adapt.”
